Two Ph.D. Positions in Geotechnical Engineering

Two fully funded graduate research assistant positions (Ph.D. level) in the area of geotechnical engineering are available in the department of civil engineering at University of Victoria, Canada. The starting date is preferred in January 2018 but no later than September 2018. Applicants are expected to have a degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or relevant fields. Currently, preference is given to those who have strong numerical background in geotechnical engineering or fluid dynamics: e.g. experience in using PLAXIS, FLAC, PFC, etc., or experience in programming using Matlab or Visual Basic.
Research areas are focused on but not limited to soil erosion and scour, soil-structure interaction, fundamental behaviors of non-self-supporting materials (sewage sludge, dredged materials, and mine tailings), etc. For more information, please visit Dr. Cheng Lin’s webpage http://www.uvic.ca/engineering/civil/people/home/clin.php.
