The civil engineering, as a traditional and superior discipline with its own characteristics of Tongji University, serves as an outstanding representative in the education of this discipline in China. With the arrival of the centenary of college of civil engineering, on the afternoon of Nov. 8, 2014, the forum themed with “Discipline Development and Life” is held in Meeting Room 201 and 207 of geotechnics building of Department of Geotechnical Engineering. The department comprises and integrates many traditional disciplines which are of comprehensive development and distinctive features, such as Tunneling and Underground Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Geological Engineering. Alumni both at home and abroad gather together at their Alma Mater to celebrate her glittering passage of the one hundred years. About 100 teachers, students, distinguished alunmi and special guests attend the forum, including Sun Jun, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Gu Jincai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shi Zhenming, Party Secretary of Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Prof. Zhang Zixin, Prof. Ding Wenqi, Prof. Xie Xiongyao, Prof. Qian Jiangu. Prof. Huang Maosong, Dean of Department of Geotechnical Engineering, also express welcome and wishes at abroad.
