In the afternoon of Mar. 13, 2013, the awarding ceremony for Prof. J. Woody Ju, the candidate of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts sponsored by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, is held in Room 201, Geotechnical Building. The ceremony is hosted by Prof. Xianglin Gu, the Dean of college of civil engineering, and meanwhile, the appointment to Prof. J. Woody Ju is issued by Prof. Gang Pei, the President of Tongji University. Afterwards, Prof. Ju gives an academic lecture with the topic of "Mechanical Properties of Innovative Pothole Patching Materials Featuring High-Toughness Low-Viscosity Nano-Molecular Resins".
Prof. Ju now is a tenured professor from UCLA. He dedicates to researches in the fields of multi-scale material modeling of concrete and cement-based composite materials, nonlinear computational solid mechanics, high-performance computing simulation and biomechanics, etc. Meanwhile, he takes the position of editor in chief or associate editor for a number of top international academic journals, e.g. International Journal of Damage Mechanics, Nano and Micro-mechanics, and International Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology. He also obtained many top prizes and awards such as Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize and IACM Fellow Award, etc.
